Australia’s International Airshow Returns to Avalon Airport - Avalon Airport

Australia’s International Airshow Returns to Avalon Airport

After a four-year break due to COVID-19 postponements, Avalon Airport is thrilled to be hosting the Australian International Airshow once again. Avalon first secured the Airshow in 1992 and has hosted it biannually since, and we’re hoping this year’s Airshow will be bigger and better than ever.

The Airshow started in 1988 in Sydney with large performances by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and was followed by a second highly successful show in 1990. The show then moved to Avalon (and was almost cancelled by the wettest spring on record!) for good.

The latest 2019 show attracted 38,952 attendances across the dedicated trade and industry sessions (Tuesday – Thursday), 698 participating companies and 161 official industry and government delegations. This smashed all previous records and we’re hoping we can do it again in 2023.

World leaders in industries like defense, aerospace and aviation will descend on Avalon across the trade days to showcase their best and brightest innovations. There will be a huge exhibition space set up for key decision-makers to peruse the various industries on offer and create important networking opportunities. Exhibitors range from the Royal Australian Air Force and Australian Space Agency to the Australian Army Drone Racing Association. Many more industry leaders will also be present for the three days of trade events. Daily conferences and talks are also scheduled in addition to the exhibition space, most of which are fully open to trade attendees.

There is also a large public component to the week which will run from Friday 3 March through to Sunday 5 March. We’re offering free entry for children under 15 so that families can come along all together and watch a series of incredible air displays, including a Friday night extravaganza with night aerobatics, a laser show, fireworks and our famous Wall of Fire. One of the world’s most highly regarded military jet display teams, the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) Black Eagles aerobatic team, will also perform during the public period.
