Checking in
It’s easy to check-in at Avalon Airport, no matter where you are flying to!
All our kiosks offer check-in across domestic and international flights, as well as all airlines, and are located within the domestic terminal.
For domestic travel, check-in will open two hours before the scheduled flight time. Once checked in and after undergoing a security check, domestic travellers can move to the domestic lounge to wait with family and friends.
For international travel, check-in will open three hours before the scheduled flight time. Once checked in, international travellers must exit the domestic terminal, walk to the international terminal and undergo security checks and passport control before moving to the international lounge to wait.
As check-in times can vary from airline to airline, we always recommend you consult with the airline before you leave for the airport.
Tourism Refund Scheme (TRS)
If you have items in your checked baggage that you would like to claim for TRS, please cross to the ABF window in the forecourt and show the items to the officer, to be issued with a validation certificate before you check in. Then, repack your items, keep the receipt and validation certificate on your person, and check-in as normal.
Security
Domestic passengers, friends and loved ones must be screened before entering the sterile area (the secure part of the terminal – departure lounge). Personal effects are CT scanned and people entering must pass through a Body Scanner. This is supplemented by random checks for explosives. Please refer to your airline for specific information about baggage.
