The famous Great Ocean Road
Once you’ve arrived at Avalon Airport, there’s a very good reason to hire yourself a car.
One of the most famous stretches of coastline in the world, the Great Ocean Road takes in the Surf Coast, the Twelve Apostles, and Bells Beach, the home of the Rip Curl Pro.
At 243 kilometres long, and built by returned soldiers between 1919 and 1932, the road itself is the world’s largest war memorial, and is dedicated to soldiers killed during World War I.
Stunning no matter what time of year, the Great Ocean Road is one of those roads you have to experience for yourself.
Plus, Torquay, which is the start of the Great Ocean Road, is only half an hour from our place!
